When we see pro golfers on television, they make it seem effortless. But, as beginners know, the game is anything but easy.

When we see pro golfers on television, they make it seem effortless. But, as beginners know, the game is anything but easy.

The beautiful, green courses hide water hazards, sand traps, and other obstacles through which you must hit a tiny golf ball. Your goal is to hit this ball, make it through the dangers, and ultimately land it in a correspondingly small hole. It can be frustrating for people who have a hard time even hitting the ball off the first tee.

And then you have the choice of which club to use during each stage of the game. When is it appropriate to use a driver? What is a wedge? Should you use your woods or your irons? At least you feel pretty confident about when to use the putter.

In the game of golf, there are three clubs available for you to use: drivers, woods and putters. Each club serves a different purpose and will cause a ball to travel differently from a tee or the ground.

You can begin with this basic knowledge, and suddenly the game of golf will make much more sense. You can actually enjoy yourself instead of worrying about what to do.

Firstly, the clubs you use must be appropriate for your stature. Clubs that are too short will leave you with an aching back, and clubs that are too long will leave you chopping into the course.

The right equipment is a must. It is a great idea to go to a pro golf shop so that knowledgeable professionals can help you choose the appropriate clubs and sizes.

While there are many different clubs, your three most important will be drivers, woods, and putters. When you see those amazingly shots on television that go a few hundred yards, the players are using their drivers. These, and woods, are made for long distance shots.

When you are on a green, you can pull out your putter to closer shots. These three clubs are the most important to the success of your game, so it is a good idea to practice and feel confident with each.

Golf courses can be intimidating for beginners. Before you start, try a driving range. This allows you to practice your posture, swing, and grip without the pressure of a real game.

Just as important as which club to use is how to hold the club. Your dominant hand should be positioned under your opposite hand to guide it. The flat part of your weaker hand should lie at the end of the club handle. This is where proper fit comes into play and can make a big difference in your game.

Stand tall to the side of the ball and pay attention to your posture. This will influence how you swing. If you have poor posture, your swing will not be as powerful or smooth.

Keep your arms bent slightly and place the club at the back of the ball. This is the perfect distance between you and the ball.

To develop your swing, you can practice without a ball and swing at the empty tee, learning the feel of your club and how to control the club so it is be within the ideal strike zone.

In addition to the three clubs already mentioned, there are specific clubs that are useful when you find yourself in the midst of hazards. Make sure to practice with these as well as you will be prepared for every aspect of the game of golf.

There are a lot of factors that go into deciding which club to use and how to hit the ball. You even have to take into consideration the consistency of the sand as well as other elements. You will want to use a wedge for sand traps. They are designed to help you hit the ball in this type of terrain.

With practice, you’ll gain familiarity with your equipment. Once you understand how each club works, and how you should use them, you can turn the often mystifying game of golf into a relaxing and enjoyable hobby.

Here are some great places to start exploring golf swing tips. You can also effortlessly review sites like the helpful hybrid golf clubs site.

There are a number of reasons why you might want to use a golf cart instead of walking between holes on the course. But, you can easily bother other golfers if you don’t use the cart properly. Let’s discuss some of the benefits of using a cart instead of walking, and how to operate one considerately.

The most obvious advantage of using a cart is that you won’t have to walk. Courses can be very large, and walkers who have to carry their golf bags will soon become tired, even if they’re in good shape. A golf cart prevents this. In addition, you can carry more with you if you choose to use a cart.

A cart will also shield you from bad weather. For example, if it’s sweltering hot, you’ll soon become fatigued and overheated if you walk the course. But if you take a cart along with plenty of water to beat the heat, you’ll be able to keep cool in the shade. Driving a golf cart can help protect you from overheating in the summer, and can keep you from getting drenched in spring and fall rains.

It’s important to remember that if you don’t use a cart regularly, you might not know when you need to move it, or how to drive it the right way. You might end up running back and forth, which is likely to be a nuisance to other golfers. If you don’t know what you’re doing, using a cart may cause more trouble than good.

Be extra careful when driving on wet grass or soggy ground. If the ground is overly saturated or muddy, avoid the area. Be aware that most courses will not allow you to drive on the rough; this minimizes the wear and tear on the course. If your partner is old enough to drive and is in the driver’s seat, you should assume he or she will drive.

Talk to your partner about who will move the cart. That keeps you from leaving it behind and having to walk back for it. Remember that you should return to the cart path when approaching the green, and bring all appropriate clubs with you when walking to it. Be willing to bring your partner a club if needed. Remember to ask him or her if a rest stop is needed when facilities are nearby.

Decide ahead of time where you are going to put the cart, and park it where it can provide shade if there is no other source available. If you are driving and your partner’s ball is next up, pull up along the right side of the ball. Make sure the ball is located midway down the length of the cart so that your partner will have less distance to walk.

Never drive your cart while other players are hitting, and make sure not to move in front of them. When parking near the green, park the cart on the side where you’ll walk off the green. When the ball is on the side or top of a hill, park nearby, but don’t drive on the hill, as this can be dangerous.

Know how far it is to the green by reading the distances or paying attention to the location of bushes, and know how far your clubs are likely to send the ball. If you’re not sure which club you’ll need, bring more than one to avoid having to walk far to the cart again and again.

If you are thinking about learning the game of golf, there are many details you need to know about at the beginning. But where do you start if you are a complete novice? Fortunately, there are several resources on-line to help you with your golf education.

Beginner Golf Tips

The golfing beginner can start by reading some free golf tips on the Internet. Golf Tips For Beginners is a growing resource that you can visit to learn about every facet of the game. The website has articles and links to particular golf sections for additional information. Two useful resources that you will find are links to a golf review blog and free golf tips videos.

Basic Golf Tips

Basic Golf Tips articles can be found that cover the stuff you need to know about to get started. At the moment, there are 8 articles covering the basics; beginning with the scoring system, and continuing with choosing the right golf equipment, the different types of golf shots, and golf rules and etiquette.

Golf Resources

There are some carefully chosen golf resources at the golf tips for beginners’ page. You will find PDF eBooks specially written for the beginner golfer, the senior golfer and the woman golfer. Also, links to the best golf balls and golf clubs for beginners.

Golf Gear

You will clearly need some golf equipment to start playing golf. The fundamental items are a golf club set, a golf bag, tees, and balls. However, you don’t essentially need to purchase these at first; you can rent them out from most golf courses. But, if you are serious about taking up the game, then investing in a good set of clubs, balls and a golf bag is elemental.

If you take the decision to invest in golf equipment you will find that there are hundreds of options. Most of the top brand name golf manufacturers spend millions trying to get you to buy their equipment. But don’t rush out and spend thousands of dollars on golf clubs that might not help your game.

Rather, start off with a good set of golf clubs that are designed with the beginner in mind. Sometimes, they are called game improving clubs and they are designed to be more forgiving to miss-hits. You can have the tailor made for your swing speed and physical size by customizing the clubs with the correct shaft type, length, and flex.

Hence, for your basic golf education, check out what the golf tips for beginners website has to offer. There will be more articles added and more golf reviews at the blog to help you figure out what golf related products are a good investment.

Golf beginners – read the Golf Tips For Beginners articles at Mick’s website where you will find Golf Mental Game tips and all the free golf tips you will need to improve your game.

If you are a golfer that really enjoys the game and you want to combine your love of golf with a vacation, then this article will give you some ideas to plan the perfect golf vacation. The initial idea opens up dozens of possibilities for a family trip or a golfing-buddies trip.

But before rushing off to hit the little white ball in the sunshine of another state or another country, every golf vacationer should take some time to plan the perfect golf vacation by thinking about what the ideal golf trip should include.

The same with any vacation, you have to include some key elements when planning a golf trip; how long will you be staying, how do you plan to pay for the trip, what is the estimated cost, what other extras will you include, and so forth. The most important consideration is if any of your family or friends don’t golf, then what other activities would they enjoy. The next thing to consider is where you want to play golf; near the beach, in the mountains, or on the links of England or Scotland.

Some fundamental planning at the beginning should remove any little problems for a better chance of a perfect golf vacation. When you start to plan the perfect golf vacation it is a good idea to write out some points about an ideal golf trip by dividing the points into separate areas to focus on. Below are a few categories to help you get started:

* Decide on a time of year for the trip (a few weeks / months in the future; a year in the future)

* Decide how many days or rounds of golf the trip will include (don’t overdo it!)

* Set a range of prices for the entire trip ($2000 to $3000, $4000 to $5000, for example)

* Decide on how many people will be in the group

* Decide who will go on the trip – just golfers, non-golfers etc.

* Get some golf trip information together from golf magazines, library, Web sites etc.

* Talk with friends who have been on a golf vacation and ask if they made their own plans, used a travel agent, purchased a golf package vacation etc.

You could use your original plans to make all the travel, hotel, and golf scheduling by yourself. The following tips will help you make your own arrangements.

If you are planning to drive to your golf vacation destination, carrying your clubs in the trunk of the car or the back of the SUV solves most of the transportation problems. If this is your method of getting to your favorite golf site, take a few minutes to make sure you have all the clubs in the bag. It may sound strange, but it is certainly no fun to arrive for a few days of golf at a beautiful location only to find that your 8 iron is at home, because your son or daughter took it out of the bag for practice.

When making your own arrangements without using the help of a travel agency, you could contact different organizations in the area that you will be visiting. An example of this is that you can contact the Myrtle Beach group in South Carolina that specializes in golf vacations. You can do this with the golf courses in Arizona as the Phoenix area offers the same assistance, as do the many golf resorts in the state.

In this case, you select your favorite golf courses, then contact your selected accommodation, and ask for the Golf Director. They can book your lodging and tee times right there. This is a combination of making your own decisions while relying on the expertise and local knowledge of golf vacation specialists.

By doing most of the planning yourself, you will no doubt have a extra challenges and work, but you and your group will have the benefit of more freedom and a sense of achievement. Remember to set your standards as high as you want and then decrease them to a controllable limit if you realize that your budget will not stretch to an overseas destination like the Bahamas, Scotland, or Spain.

Once you have your accommodation in place, you should plan to play courses that are within a practical distance; the least amount of traveling to and from the golf courses is essential. These arrangements should be made as early as possible so that your group has the best opportunities to be had. If you change your mind and you wait too long to change your plans, you could end up with undesirable rooms and tee times. Here are some recommendations for acquiring the accommodation first:

* Instead of a hotel you could consider a rental house with enough room for everyone

* Try to have a separate bed for each person or couple

* Think again about the driving time to the golf courses if you choose a rental home over hotel lodgings on or near a golf course

* Consider early morning tee times if you want an additional 18 holes in the afternoon. Being close to the house makes 36 holes doable

* Plan for lodging even earlier if you want to play golf and watch a major tournament that is taking place in the area. Combining your trip with a professional tournament adds some extra flavor to a golf vacation.

Another item you might want to settle when you plan the perfect golf vacation: Do you get one round per day, two rounds per day, or can you play as much as you want? Be sure to have this settled before you leave. Tip: Make sure you understand what is included in your golf package. A few minutes for the details will eliminate many small problems once you get to your golf destination.

If you want proof, you only have to look at the box office receipts of playoff games during the last season of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the United States. For a more global scale, refer to the World Cup events where football enthusiasts from different European, African, Latin American and Asian countries attend in droves to watch their countrymen play with all their hearts.

Another popular ball game that receives much attention is golf. Although this can be played by a single individual or a team, it has nevertheless garnered sponsorship and viewers because of its reputation as a sport for gentlemen.

Basically, the goal is simple. A player, or more popularly known as golfer, tries to hit the ball in a hole. He strikes the ball from a teeing box and from there, utilized various strikes, like a layup, an approach, a green or a putt so that the ball will enter the hole. This may sound effortless but it is actually easier said than done. One can encounter problems from the wrath of Mother Nature like heavy winds, strong rains and even the occasional thunderstorm while on a golf course. Most professional players even have to contend with the fickle-minded crowd watching them. They are expected to receive their fair share of cheers and jeers.

The challenges are not enough to deter people from enjoying this particular game. This is because the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. Read the succeeding paragraphs for the perks that may be derived while playing this game.

The first advantage is that it can be a good physical workout for the body. When one swings his club and hits the ball, he stretches his side muscle. With the proper body mechanics, he becomes more flexible and tones his upper body quite well. Golf is also a great cardiovascular exercise especially if one chooses to walk briskly from one hole to another.

Second, one can socialize with his peers while playing the game, thereby inducing moments of rest and relaxation. It takes the mind of a person into a different level, leaving all his cares and worries behind in the office or at home. The green fairway is also a perfect way to meditate because it can bring rejuvenation to the tired and weary soul.

For those who are inclined entrepreneurially, it can serve as a good start in negotiating business deals. In fact, most high-flying career executives prefer starting and closing transaction while in the middle of the game. Therefore, if one intends to heed this particular advice, he should brush up on his golfing skills right now.

The third advantage of playing golf is it can inculcate virtues of patience, hard work and prudence. It is not merely a physical game that requires brawn. It is also a mental game that requires careful analysis and consideration, especially in choosing the clubs to be used, in assessing the weather condition and in taking note of the perfect time to tee.

Mastering the art of the golf swing could be complicated and challenging, and you are most probably trying to improve yours. There are a couple of very simple errors in balance that most people make but can easily be avoided. Here are two simple tips on improving your balance and golf swing, as well as correct the basic slip-ups that you could be doing.

1. A Good Setup, A Good Balance, A Good Swing

A good tip for improving your golf swing would be improving your setup. A lot of golfers do not have a good balance because they started off from a bad setup. If you have a good and solid setup, you would be able to keep balanced as you swing. Maintaining your balance would give you a solid swing plane as well as a good pivot. Make sure keep your whole body under control during your setup so you could improve your balance and swing.

2. Swinging Too Hard

Although having great distance is essential, having perfect control of your swing is equally important. What usually happens is since you want distance, you give your all you can when you swing. This causes you to wheel around and lose your balance, as you swing too hard. What you would need to do is trust your club. It is already designed to send the ball to great lengths so you would need to focus on making your swing as solid, as steady and as balanced as possible to stay in the fairway.
