Golfing Left Handed

2010 July 23

The fact that most of the training instructions out there with golf are for right handed golfers can really be bothersome to someone who is left handed. It might appear to be tough to golf when left handed because of this. However, there are plenty of techniques available that a left handed golfer can use.

Almost all the techniques out there that are for right handed golfers can also be used by someone who is left handed. The best way to think about how to do it is to look at it as if it is a mirror image. What works for a right handed golfer can be switched over and used the opposite way for a left handed golfer.

Take time to practice your technique with your swing trainer. Remember to make sure your grip on your club isn’t too loose or too tight. You swing trainer should help you with your golf stance to make sure it is right. There are different shots that you may have to do out on the course that you can still practice with your swing trainer for.

For example, if you want a chip shot you need to remember to lean your body a tiny bit to the right. You need to stand close to the ball, with your hands above it. Remember to keep your hands ahead of the ball, even as you hit the ball. Arm movement is essential when chipping.

It is also good to practice a good putt shot. Putting requires a squared shoulder stance. You also need to remember to have a firm, but light grip on the golf club and have a good, long follow through when hitting the ball.

Other techniques can be used for other shots you will need to take on the course. You may find yourself out in the sand for a few shots. These are intentionally hard shots to make. Remember to compensate for the hard terrain and footing by digging your feet in the sand, and having a lower grip on the club.

While the technique may be interchangeable, you shouldn’t interchange the golf equipment. Equipment is meant to be used only for right handed people, or only for left handed people. Left handed individuals should never use equipment for right handed individuals, that is if they want to do any good in the game.

It can be a lot harder to find left handed equipment for a golfer. However, when golfing left handed, and using a right handed golf club, your game won’t go well. It used to be really difficult to find equipment, unless you were a professional and could afford customized golf equipment. With the advances of the Internet, finding left handed equipment is right at your fingertips. You only need to search for it.
