The key to correcting the fat golf shot is keeping our hips very still so they do not move horizontally and not letting our back shoulder dip down. If you are looking for some extra power in your shot, try to generate it from your arms and torso rather than the hips.

As you perform a backswing, try to get your leading arm as straight as possible once you reach the top. Begin the downswing with the leading arm fully stretched and extended. Make sure that your hips do not move horizontally at this point. Practice doing this over and over again until you get the movement right. This is a very important tip if you are looking to cure the fat golf shot.

Try to keep the leading shoulder straight and down at all times. This will make sure that your golf swing is on the right plane. Never let your shoulders come up or move backwards. This would end up in a golf slice or a fat golf shot.
